Gordon walters - Painting no.1 1965 (Auckland Art Gallery)

I saw this painting at the Auckland Art Gallery in NZ whilst on holiday. It's one of Gordan Walters studies using the famous New Zealand koru motif. It demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of geometric abstraction. Walters spent time in Europe during the 50's and this work in particular is an interesting uniting of Polynesian and European art traditions. http://www.aucklandartgallery.com/

David, Gary and myself are holding an exhibition at Vyner Street Galleries in Vyner Street, East London between the 4th and 7th of April this year. We'd love you to come along to see our work!
